Modeen Burke, 79 of Pineville, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at her home. She was born in Little Clear Creek on April 30, 1944, a daughter of the late Wesley and Shirley Fuson Hunter. Modeen was a member of the Fuson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and had been a housekeeper for the Pineville Community Hospital.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alford Burke; sister, Dorothy Freeman; and three infant brothers.
Modeen is survived by her son, David Burke and his wife, Betty; daughter, Sandra Burke; stepdaughters, Teresa Lee and her husband, Harold, and Debbie Cooper; grandchildren, Cody Burke, Amanda Burke, Derrick Burke, and Brittany Burke; great-grandchildren, Joziah Lee Burke and Jamir Allen Lopez; host of grandchildren and step-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Curtsinger; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Fuson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Little Clear Creek with Rev. Mark Hunter and Rev. Clint Goodin presiding. Music will be provided by Barry Barton and the Fuson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Choir. Burial will follow at the Fuson Chapel Cemetery in Little Clear Creek with the Church Family serving as pallbearers.
