Mitchell Trosper

April 15, 1956 — January 12, 2020

Mitchell Trosper passed away at his home Sunday, January 12, 2020 in Ingram, KY. He was born at his home on April 15, 1956 to the late Oscar and Ollie Jones Trosper. He attended Buckeye Elementary School and was a graduate of Lone Jack High School. Mitchell was a veteran of the United States Army 101st Airborne Division and a third- degree Mason of Bell Lodge #691, Pineville, KY. Mitchell worked many hard days to provide for his family. He worked in the coal industry, limestone quarry and was self-employed for over 45 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to be in the woods or on the water where he taught his sons and grandchildren to hunt, fish and shoot guns. Mitchell enjoyed spending time with family, friends and especially his grandchildren. He loved the simple things of life and took pride in working in his garden, canning his harvest and piddling in his garage. Mitchell loved people and would always gladly stop what he was doing to talk and tell stories. He never met a stranger in all his time and travels. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger brother, Clarence Trosper. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sherry Turner Trosper; sister, Ella (Steve) Rowlett of Middlesboro, KY; sons, Steven (Melissa) Trosper of Richmond, KY, Jason Trosper of Tennessee and John Trosper of Middlesboro, KY; grandchildren, Jefferey Trosper, Caitlyn Trosper, Harley Trosper and Lilianna Trosper; Big Pa's Little Buddy, Ryker White; special cousin, Deno Trosper of Leo, IN; brother-in-law, David Turner of Louisville; sister-in-law, Janet Carmack of Pineville; a friend that he loved as a son, Justin Boatright; close friends, Billy Jackson, Curtis Pingleton, Glen Helton, Joe Vaughn and Gary "Slick" Smith along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. A Celebration to Life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 8:00 PM at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Wayne Goodin. Music will be by Caitie Trosper.
