Mildred Thompson

Mildred Thompson, 78 of Bowling Green, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2026, at her home. She was born in Arjay on March 18, 1948, a daughter of the late Oscar and Bessie Smith Jones. Mildred had been a cheerleader at Bell County High School and enjoyed going to the gym and lifting weights. She had been a baker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Lee Dewayne Thompson.

Mildred is survived by her husband of nearly 62 years, Lee Otis Thompson; son, Darren Thompson; grandchildren, Rainalee Thompson, Ava Rose Thompson, and Eli Thompson; sister, Carolyn Jones; brother, Jim Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro with family serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Friends of the Bell County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 2534, Middlesboro, Kentucky 40965.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Thompson Family.
