Mildred Carnes Bowling Johnson, 85, of Middlesboro, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2012 at her home in Middlesboro. She was born in Pineville on June 12, 1926, a daughter of the late Greene and Ruby Bradshaw Carnes. She had taught math at the Clear Fork School at Shalalla and had been sales clerk for Newberry's Department Store for many years. She was a dedicated member of the Newtown Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her first child, Earl Bowling and the father of her other children, Claude Johnson; a sister, Christine and brother Bill. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Vickie and Ronnie Washam, Jennifer and Robert Taylor, Adean and Freddie Cole, Arthena and Arthur Mills and Claudetta Warnock; grandchildren, Chasity and Sam Finney, Kelli and Bill Sharp, Jon Stanley, Lisa Blakley, Kay Mills, Bruce Mills, Teresa Mills,Kristy Cole, Jean Smith and Kim York; two very special granddaughters and 'angels,' Cailie and Alyssa Sharp; sisters, Magdalene Messer and husband, Paul, Naomi Garrison and Aubrey Carnes; sister-in-law, Wilma Carnes; nephews, Alvin (Joyce) Garrison, John (Kathy) Garrison, Bruce Messer and Joe (Geneva) Messer; niece, Teresa (Rodger) Penny; special friends, Rose Brock (who was like a daughter); David Dilbeck (who was like a son); Janetta Hubbard, Janice Smith; Delora Wagner; Hazel Mayes and her church family and a host of other relatives and friends.
