SIMPSON, MAXIE MEADOR - of Knoxville and formerly of Harrogate, TN, died peacefully, December 18, 2007 at Parkwest Medical Center. Maxie was a member of Middlebrook Pike United Methodist Church and the Willing Workers Circle. She graduated from Lincoln Memorial University of Harrogate and retired from TVA as a draftsperson. Maxie has always led an active life as a artist in her church and home. She preferred the mediums of weaving, embroidery, tatting and watercolor in which she taught many classes in these arts and crafts. She was preceded in death by her parents William G. and Nelle Meador, brothers Joe W. Meador and William Sterling Meador and sister Lena Helen Gidens. Maxie is survived by her husband of 54 years Howard H. Simpson; daughter Janet S. Vancil; grandchildren, Jeremy M. and Jamie M. Vancil; sister and brother in law, Mary Ruth and Avon Gaynor; sister in law, Jeanne Meador and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 3:00 p.m. Friday at Middlebrook Pike United Methodist Church with Rev. Wil Cantrell and Rev. Eric Rieger officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Meador Family Cemetery in Harrogate, TN for the interment service.
