Mason Howard

Mr. Gabe Mason Howard passed away Tuesday March 20, 2012 at the Pineville Community Hospital. He was born May 3, 1923 at Mill Creek, Kentucky, the son of Ben and Roxie Howard who preceded him in death. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pineville, had served as Deacon since 1965 and Treasurer of the Mill Creek Baptist Church for many years, and was a dedicated Christian. He was immensely proud of his combat service to this nation during World War II where he was awarded three Bronze Stars in combat. He was retired from the Bell County School System after 38 years of service and was one of the founding board members of the Bell County Little League and Bell County Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Ora Brock, Kate Brock, Homer Howard, Morris Howard, Evelyn Howard and Carrie Johnson. Survivors include his faithful wife of 61 years, Fannie Jones Howard; sons Rev. Rondald (Sandy) Howard of Pineville; Dr. Rodger (Patricia) Howard of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee and Benny (Woodie) Howard of Middlesboro; eight grandchildren; Beth-Anne Howard of Pineville, Andrew Howard of Alexandria, Virginia; Matthew and James Howard of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee; Lindsey (Vince) Powell of Middlesboro and Paige, Gracen and Dana Howard of Middlesboro; one sister, Phronia Lefevers of Kettle Island and a host of nieces, nephews and friends, especially those of the Bell County Senior Citizens Center.
