Mary Ellen Knuckles

Mary Ellen Knuckles, 63, of Pineville, Kentucky, went to her heavenly home on October 23, 2021. She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on March 14, 1958. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Birdie and Millard Clayborne Knuckles; her brother, Claude Knuckles; her sister, Shirley Green; and her family pet, Taco. Mary is survived by her children, Adam and Tonya Knuckles, Rebecca Knuckles, and Crystal and Brandon Mills; her grandchildren, Jared Knuckles, Eli Knuckles, Jase Knuckles, Olivia Mills, Sophia Mills, Amelia Mills, and Waylon Mills; her brother, Steve Knuckles; sister, Lillie Knuckles; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved dearly. Mary was a graduate of Southeast Community and Technical College and previously attended Eastern Kentucky University. She was a published author of a book of short stories, 'She Who Remembers'. Mary also has several poems published in a literary journal at EKU. She enjoyed reading, was an avid writer, and loved to watch Gunsmoke. Mary spent a lot of her time learning of her family genealogy and researching her Native American ancestry. She frequented pow wows in North Carolina and Tennessee, loved eating Indian fry bread, and could often be found on the war path. Mary loved her family immensely. She was a proud mother and an even prouder grandmother. Above all else, Mary was a child of God, was strong in her faith, and loved the Lord with all of her heart. She will be greatly missed. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Herman Denny presiding. Burial will follow at the Pinelawn Memorial Gardens in East Pineville. Pallbearers will be Adam Knuckles, Jared Knuckles, Brandon Mills, Curt Knuckles, William Muncy and Jason Knuckles. Honorary pallbearers are Eli Knuckles, Jase Knuckles, and Waylon Mills. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:30 AM until the funeral hour at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Knuckles Family.
