Mary Jane Edwards

Mary Jane Maddox Edwards was born December 25, 1921 and died May 11, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Charlie & Matilda Hopper Maddox. Mary was a Primitive Baptist, but she belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Vergil Edwards; a son, Samuel Hoyle Edwards; a daughter, Beverly Anne Edwards MacDonald; a granddaughter, Rena May MacDonald; & her parents, Charlie and Matilda Maddox.

Mama enjoyed life; she was always busy. Aside from her rock-solid faith, her children were her "life." She took much pleasure in daily things: nature - her garden, flowers, birds, etc.; serving - making clothes for her children and grandchildren, embroidery, beautiful quilting; cooking and making "special" dishes for family & friends. In all that she did she used her brilliant intelligence and creativity. She also had a love of old hymns, poetry, and reading. Words cannot express how greatly she will be missed.

Mama is survived by seven children: Patricia Edwards Dempsey; Raymond Carson Edwards; Joy Lynn Edwards Davis & son-in-law Joe Davis; Gary Walter Edwards; all of LaFollette, Farrell "Dub" Edwards of Speedwell & daughter-in-law Vickie Drummonds; Douglas Michael Edwards of Speedwell; and Karen June Edwards Akins & son-in-law Ray Akins. She has eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren & a host of friends and relatives.

Services will be held 2 PM Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Reece Funeral Home & Valley Chapel. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 PM. Burial will follow in the Hunter Cemetery of Speedwell, TN.
