Martha Louise Hightower

Martha Louise King Hightower, 87, of Pineville, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at the Pineville Community Hospital. She was born in Pineville on August 15, 1926 the daughter of the late Marshall Harrison and Thelma Dickinson King. Louise was a member of the First United Methodist church, where she served in several capacities, including, President of the Methodist Women and Church Treasurer. She had worked at the Bell County Health Department for over 30 years as an Administrative Assistant, Clerical Supervisor and Registrar of Birth and Death Records. Louise was very proud of her family and was a loving and dedicated mother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glendon Hightower; sons, Glendon Hightower, II and Christopher Shawn Hightower; brothers, Williams Joseph King and John Harrison King. Survivors include a devoted daughter and caregiver, Brenda Louise Hightower; daughter, Dr. Karen King Carnes; granddaughter, Krista King Carnes; great-granddaughter, Reagan Noelle Rogers; very special sisters-in-law; Mary Sue Mason and husband, Homer and Lorraine King; precious niece, Debbie Partin and husband, Tim; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be at 8 PM Wednesday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ron Suntken. Music will be by Brian Robbins and Mickey Wilder. Burial will be Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Pineville Memorial Cemetery, Pineville, with pallbearers, Larry Mason, Gary Mason, Tim Partin and Terry Bradley. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jerry Woolum, Dr. Martha Combs Woolum and the men of the Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 until 8 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Hightower family.
