Mark Steven "Baboon" Matteson

Mark Steven “Baboon” Matteson, 67 of Stoney Fork, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at the Kindred Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 17,1954, a son of the late Alford and Geneva Campisi Matteson. Mark served his country in the United States Army and had been a coal miner for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Vernon Christopher Matteson. Mark is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Matteson; daughter, Amanda Sue Matteson; grandchildren, Hayle Jane Matteson and Christopher Steven Matteson; brothers, Robert Matteson, James Matteson, and Daniel Matteson; sisters, Sharon Bell and Teresa Matteson; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at the Laurel Branch Pentecostal Church with Rev. Herstel Belcher presiding. Music will be provided by Tommy Belcher, Geneva and Arnold Griffin and Elbert Helton. Burial will follow in the Belcher Cemetery at Stoney Fork with family and friends servings as pallbearers.
