Marion "Gene" Walters

Marion Eugene ?Gene? Walters, 83, of Harrogate, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 30, 2011 at the Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was born in Norton, VA on July 30, 1927, the son of the late Arthur Lloyd ?Pete? Walters, Sr. and Elsie Williams Walters. He was a member of the West Pineville Baptist Church and had served in the US Army during World War II. Gene had graduated from Knox Central High School and had worked for Bell South Telephone from 1948 until 1983 and retired as the Supervisor of Repair and Installation. He had belonged to Pioneer of American, Pineville Jaycees, Middlesboro Pilots Association, ROHO and he was a Kentucky Colonel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur Lloyd 'Art' Walters, Jr., Robert 'Bob' Walters and Charles Walters. Survivors include his wife, Christine Mills Walters; daughters, Pam Kaye Wilson and husband, Donnie and Lisa Walters Dooley and husband, Don; grandchildren, Kimberly Nicole Miracle, Kelley Brooke Miracle, Daniel Lee Sharpe and wife, Angie and Jenna Sharpe Brooks and husband, Wesley and adopted grandson, timothy Comfort; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
