Luster Elizabeth Shipley

Luster Elizabeth Shipley, 83 of Speedwell, passed away on Monday, October 19,2026, at her home. She was born in Middlesboro on October 13, 1943, a daughter of Harold William and Helen Elizabeth Martin Welch. Luster was a member The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had been a homemaker and pharmacy technician.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother John William “Butch” Welch.

Luster is survived by her husband of 65 years, William Kenneth “Willie” Shipley; daughters, Kathy White and Kimberly Frost and husband, Craig; sons, William Shipley and wife, Andrea, Thomas Shipley and wife, Dawranee, and Grant Shipley and wife, Leah; twenty grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ida Welch; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 PM on Friday, October 23, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cumberland Gap with Bishop Keck presiding. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 AM on Saturday at Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel in Harrogate to go in procession to Yoakum Cemetery in Speedwell. Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the Yoakum Cemetery with her grandchildren serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 PM until the funeral hour at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Speedwell.
