Louise Slusher

Louise McGaffee Slusher, age 83 of Pineville, Kentucky, passed away at her residence on Thursday, May 14, 2009, after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. She was born on August 3rd, 1925, in Pineville, Kentucky, where she was a life long resident. She was the daughter of the late Ward and Georgia McGaffee. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Dr. Virgil Babe Slusher and her sister Bonnie McGaffee. Louise graduated from Pineville High School in 1943. She first taught school, worked at the draft board, and later was a businesswoman having owned and operated the Pineville Florist, Mary?s Dress Shop in Pineville, and You-nique Fashions in Venice, Florida. She also worked at the Cumberland Trading Post and WFXY in Middlesboro. She is survived by her sons John Slusher and wife (Shirley) and Keith Asher and wife (Vicki) of Pineville, daughter Lisa Slusher of Sylva, North Carolina. She is also survived by her grandchildren, J.F. Colby Slusher, Joshua Slusher, Lisa Beth Asher, and Whitney Asher. Also surviving are 3 great granddaughters, her beloved Justice, Jasmine, and Keala and half sister Patti McGaffee Collins. She is also survived by many other family members and close friends.
