Loretta Brown, age 77 of Monroe, died Thursday at 1 p.m. at Mercy Memorial Hospital, Monroe.

Born February 24, 1931 in Clairfield, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Joe W. and Bessie (Parrott) May. Married for sixty years, she wed Cletus O. Brown on March 17, 1948 in Middlesboro, Kentucky.

A member of North Monroe Street Church of God, she was a homemaker and caterer for many years in Monroe.

Surviving are her husband Cletus of Monroe; son, C. Dan (Debbie) Brown of Monroe; grandson, Christopher (Shannon) Brown of Spring Lake, North Carolina; granddaughters, Heather Brown and Natalie Brown both of Monroe; brother, Willis (Marge) May of Middlesboro, Kentucky; sisters, Betty (Orville) Petrey of Clairfield, Tennessee and Lorene Bell of Middlesboro, Kentucky.

Loretta was preceded in death by brothers Harold and Carl May; and sisters, Myrtle Comparoni and Violet Huddleston.
