Obituary

Lorene Smith, known as “Mamaw Lokie” to many, age 89, of Speedwell, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, following a long-term illness.

A lifelong resident of Claiborne County, Tennessee, born June 16, 1936, to the late James and Rett Cobb, Lorene devoted her life to being a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Before enjoying her retirement as a homemaker, Lorene was a nurse and employee of Claiborne Health and Rehabilitation Center of Tazewell. She was a longtime member of Pine Grove Baptist Church of Speedwell, Tennessee. Lorene will forever be missed by her loving family and friends.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Smith and second husband, Green Smith; one son, Robbie Smith; one daughter, Shelia Smith; and seven siblings, Kate Smith, Imogene Smith, Chris Smith, Bill Cobb, Jimmy Cobb, Vickie Berry and Earnest Cobb.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherry (Charlie) Lawson and Judy (Dan) Paidousis; two sons, Johnny (Sharon) Smith and Greg (Linda) Smith; thirteen grandchildren, Vic Graves II, Eric Smith, Dewayne “Kojak” Graves, Jason Wilder, Eddie Sandifer, Rhonda Sandifer, Brent Wilder, Jessica Wilson, Will Smith, Whitney Smith, Leah Smith, Leslie Smith and Cory Smith; special nephew, Doug (Lisa) Cobb and a host of great grandchildren, other special nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at Pine Grove Baptist Church, (1340 Jones Ridge Rd., Speedwell, Tennessee 37870), on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 1PM, with Rev. Dewayne "Kojak" Graves, Rev. James "Jimmy" Branscomb and Johnny Smith officiating.

Visitation will be held, at the church, from 12PM until time of services.

Interment to immediately follow at Hill Cemetery, located at Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Music to be provided by Vic Graves II.

Grandsons and great-grandsons to serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hill Cemetery.
