Lonnie Adkins

March 19, 1925 — August 14, 2007

Lonnie Edward Adkins, 82, of Knoxville, formerly of Kettle Island, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at his home. He was born at Chevrolet, Harlan County, KY and retired as a maintenance foreman from Bethlehem Steel Mines at Jenkins, KY. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 318th Air Service Squadron of the Army Air Force and saw duty in North Africa and Italy. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pineville and over the years, he served as Sunday School Teacher of the Junior and Senior Boys. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arrettia Adkins Horton and Carl Adkins, Sr., brothers, Herman and Carl Adkins, Jr., step-father, Henry Horton, step-brothers, Glenn and Bud Horton, step-sisters, Mary Dugger, Merle Moore and Evelyn Moore. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Lasley Adkins, son, Michael and his wife, Judy and grandsons, Todd and Brian Adkins and half-brother, Eulis Adkins.
