Lin Valentine age 74, of Guttenburg, Iowa passed away in Tazewell, Tennessee on April 2, 2025, after a short battle with cancer.
Born on November 13, 1950, in Portland, Oregon, Lin was a woman of quiet strength whose faith and independence guided her throughout life. Though she lived with a strong sense of self-reliance, her love for her family and her belief in God remained important parts of who she was. She will be remembered for her resilience, sharp wit, and the warmth she shared in her own unique way.
Lin was a woman who found solace and inspiration in the pages of a good book, often immersing herself in literature that nourished both her mind and soul. She believed in the power of nature and energy, always seeking ways to connect with the world around her. Lin was deeply dedicated to her work, building and nurturing a business she was passionate about. She also worked as a transcriptionist for years, a role that required precision and focus. Lin had a special love for Southwestern turquoise and Native American pottery, which reflected her vibrant spirit and appreciation for beauty.
Lin is survived by her son, Scott Johnson (Kelly); her grandchildren, Hunter, Jordan, and step grandchild Jacob; great-grandchildren, Elena, Rhiannon, and Bjorn; her daughter-in-law, Sandra Johnson (wife of the late Randy Johnson); grandchildren, Steven and Kaitlyn and her brothers, Thomas Stamos and Jimmy Stamos, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, companion William Beason and special friend Terry, along with the rest of the Thein family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Randy Johnson; her husband David Valentine; her sister, Peggy Hood and her parents.
Lin’s passing came far too soon and has left a deep void in the lives of those who knew her. Her faith, humor, and independent spirit will not be forgotten.
At this time, no formal service is planned. The family may choose to hold a private gathering in the future.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor her memory by spending time with those you love and holding them a little closer.
