Leonard “Lenny” Sturgill, 67 of Ingram, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville with his family by his side. He was the son of the late John Sturgill and Ona Mae Grubbs Sturgill born on May 27, 1958. He believed in the Holiness Faith. Lenny worked at Delaware Powder in Pineville and worked in the coal mining industry for many years. He was always glad to help his neighbors and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Sturgill, Garrett Sturgill, and Bronell Sturgill.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 48 years, Joyce Hensley Sturgill; chosen daughter, Joyce Marie Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda Sue and Dennis Gardner; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Pastor John Neal, Brother Jerry Shepherd, Brother Dustin Simpson, Brother Eric Laws presiding. Music will be provided by the Straight Creek Pentecost Holiness Church Singers. Burial will follow at the Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Jackson, Marvin Taylor, Gene Gambrell, and Bill Bailey.
The family would like to express a special Thank You for the prayers and other good deeds done during this time, they were greatly appreciated.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Sturgill family.
