Leon Wilson, 59 of Balkan, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at his home after a long illness with his family by his side. He was born in Pineville on August 4, 1965, the son of the late Leroy and JoAnn Rogers Wilson. He previously worked security at the Farmer Helton Judicial Center (Bell County District Court), Bell County Jail, former Bell County Constable, and former volunteer with the Bell County Volunteer Fire Department. He proudly served his county which he called his home.
Leon is survived by his wife, Connie Abney Wilson of Balkan; brothers, Gary Wilson and wife, Mary of Pineville, and Leeroy Wilson and wife, Gina of Floyd County; five nephews, David Wilson and wife, Kayla, Cody Wilson and Melissa Collett, Brandon Wilson, Cory Anderson and Austin Anderson; two nieces, Savanna Wilson and Lindsey Anderson; one great-nephew, Tatum; special friends, Troy Miracle and Carl Frith; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Pineville Fire Department for all of their help and support.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the Wilson Family Cemetery in Balkan with Rev. David Gibbons presiding. Music will be provided by Dana and Troy. A First Responder Escort will leave at 1:30 PM from the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home in Pineville to go to the Wilson Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cody Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Carl Frith, David Wilson, Gary Wilson, and Gerald Baker.
