Lawrence King ?LK? Butcher, MD, 62, of Flat Lick, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Pineville Community Hospital. He was born in Paintsville, KY on July 19, 1947 the son of the late John King and Catherine Trusty Butcher. A U. S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam in jungle warfare, he earned a Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces and graduated from OCS Training. A graduate of the University of Kentucky School of Medicine, Dr. Butcher was a longtime Obstetrician at the Pineville Community Hospital and he was totally devoted to his patients. He was a member of the Kentucky Medical Association and the American Medical Association. He enjoyed Quarter Horses and Barrel Racing, was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the National Barrel Horse Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rosella Johnson. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Jennifer Garren Butcher, daughters, Reagan and Erin, sister, Linda Monroe of Kingman, OH; niece, Cathy Coleman and her husband, Eddie of Lexington, KY, mother-in-law, Martha Garren, brother-in-law, Greg Garren and his wife, Jennifer, special niece, Madalyn Garren and a host of other relatives and friends.
