Lavonne Belcher Akers

Lavonne Belcher Akers, 75, of Stoney Fork, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at her home. She was born in Straight Creek, KY on December 20, 1939 a daughter of the late Garfield and Elizabeth Caldwell Belcher. She was a member of Laurel Branch Pentecostal Church and had been a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Akers, sister and brothers, Hazel Brock, David Belcher and Vernon Belcher. Survivors include her children, Brenda North, Stevie Akers, Nancy Brock, Marcella Rose Miniard, Lutishia Caldwell, Estel Akers and Virgil Akers; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister and brothers, Marcella Elliott, Virgil Belcher and Reed Belcher, special sister-in-law, Lucy Ann Belcher and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Laurel Branch Pentecostal Church. Burial will be in the Honey Branch Cemetery at Middlefork. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends on Monday after 6:00 PM at the Laurel Branch Pentecostal Church. Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, is honored to serve the Akers Family.
