Laura McGeorge Blanton, 82 of Pineville, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at the Middlesboro Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on August 5, 1940, on Laurel Hill in Pineville, and was the daughter of the late Edmus and Virgie McGeorge. Laura was a member of the East Pineville Baptist Church. Laura was a woman who loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren ferociously. She fought for things she believed in and would crawl through fire for those she loved. She was an avid Bell County Sports Fan as well as a UK fan. Laura loved Elvis and you would always hear his music playing in her car and home. She loved to reminisce of her days living in the Laurel Hill Community having dinners, playing music, dancing, and stir offs. She is preceded in death by her cherished parents, Edmus and Virgie McGeorge; her treasured husband, Millard “Dicky” Blanton, Jr.; special brother, James McGeorge and wife, Kyong Min; loving sister, Phyllis Smith and husband, Bob; brothers-in-law, Herman Carter and Ken Hall; sister-in-law, Kathy McGeorge; and loved great grandchildren, Bruce Babies. Laura is survived by her dearly loved children, Wesley Blanton and Lisa Brown and husband, Jim, of Pineville; prized sisters, Bea Carter, Frances Hall, and Donna Rose and husband, Ron; beloved brothers, Harold McGeorge and wife, Sharon, and Johnny McGeorge; sister-in-law, Clara Jo Dow; beloved granddaughters, Jaime Bruce and husband, Greg, and Shala Ramsey and husband, Cody; adored great grandchildren, Jason and Claire Bruce, and Kara and Kayden Ramsey; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews who were loved as her own children; two best friends who were like sisters, Joann Willis and Rutha Jackson; and special friends, Anna Gaye Patterson and Pat Dozier. The family would like to give a special thank you to the Bluegrass Navigators Hospice, Pineville Community Hospital 3rd floor Nurses and ER Nurses, Middlesboro ER, Middlesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and the Bell County Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at the East Pineville Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Bramble and Cody Ramsey presiding. Music will be provided by friend and classmate, Willie Frank Durham. Burial will follow at the Blanton Cemetery in Page. Pallbearers will be Jason Bruce, Greg Bruce, Cody Ramsey, Scott Hall, Jordan Hall, Brandon Smith, Hayden Smith, and Travis Saylor. Honorary pallbearer John Earl Patterson and Shane Smith. The family has requested that in honor of Laura, if you are able to attend the services to wear something purple or lavender, which were her favorite colors. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Blanton Family.
