Lanora (Lambert) Chumley

Lanora Chumley, age 88, born on 7 January 1930, went to be with the Lord on 17 October 2018, at her home in Harrogate, Tennessee. As a member of Underwood Grove Missionary Baptist Church, she served as Vacation Bible School superintendent for 40 years, until 1997, and in many other roles, including teaching Sunday School and participating in Women’s Mission activities. Lanora’s life was her church and her family; always humble, devoted and kind, good and loving, she was a rock, the best of what any family could hope for. She was ever an inspiration to many people near and far. Lanora was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Fred Chumley; parents, Lelon Patton Lambert and Grace Day Lambert; sister Barta Ramsey; and brother Pat Lambert. She is survived by her children, Freddie Chumley, Linda Harris, and Richard Chumley; grandchildren, Freddie Van Chumley II, Christy Chumley White, Jason Niday, and Adam Niday; great-grandchildren, Matthew Fischer, Michael Fischer, Trey Chumley, Brett White, Kennedy White, Davey Niday, Liam Niday, and Audrey Grace Niday; and sisters Vivian Warner and Mary Frances Gray. Friends will be received at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Harrogate, Saturday 20 October from 5-8 PM; the funeral service will be held there Sunday 21 October at 2 PM, with Reverend Marvin Simmons officiating, and music by Frankie Chumley and Madison Chumley. Family graveside service will follow immediately at Chumley Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Dennis Chumley, Eddie Chumley, Kelly Chumley, Mike Lay, Randy McKinney, and Shane Wylie.
