Lannie James Childress

Lannie James Childress, age 72, of Williamsburg, Kentucky entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 11, 2025. Lannie leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years, Deborah Brummett Childress; his surviving children, Lannie Keith Childress and wife, Margie of London, and James Crockett Childress of Williamsburg; eight grandchildren, Cole Browning, Daniel Childress, Sarah Childress, Blake Childress, Julianna Childress, Trevor Canada, Trent Canada, and Kaylee Childress; and eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Georgia Brummett and sister-in-law, Cindy Brummett, plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.

Lannie was preceded in death by his parents, James Robert and Opal (Powers) Childress, and one son, Kenny Childress.

Lannie was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 20, 1953. He was a coal miner by trade, and he loved being outside working in the garden or on the farm. Lannie loved his church family and was a member of Victory Lighthouse Holiness Church in London, Kentucky. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and uncle and had a special relationship with his nieces and nephews. Lannie was known by most as “Poppy”. He was deeply devoted to his wife and children, and always made everyone smile. He was one in a million and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Scott and Rev. John Gabbard presiding. Music will be provided by Bonnie Caudill and the Victory Lighthouse Holiness Church Singers. Burial will follow at the Pinelawn Memorial Gardens in East Pineville. Pallbearers will be Keith Childress, Cole Browning, Daniel Childress, Blake Childress, Trent Childress, and Trevor Cananda. Honorary pallbearer will be David Jackson.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Childress family. Light a candle of remembrance and sign the guest register at www.arnettsteele.com.
