Kevin Louis Layne

Kevin Louis Layne, 46 of London, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Corbin. He was born in Middlesboro on February 12, 1980, a son of Victor Louis Layne and Kathy A. Hoskins Holt. Kevin proudly served his country in the United States Army, becoming an honored veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He was a believer in the Baptist Faith and enjoyed his time fishing. Remembered for his sharp wit and keen intellect, Kevin loved writing and was an avid reader, often finding solace and inspiration in the pages of books.

He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Louis Layne; paternal grandparents, Elige and Easter Layne; maternal grandfather, Arliss Hoskins; great-grandmother, Gertrude Ramsey; and mother-in-law, Lori Coots.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Michelle Mize McCullough; stepchildren, Jason McCullough, Austin Johnson, and Ella May; mother, Kathy Holt; maternal grandmother, Betty Hoskins; brother, Brian Carter; nieces, Rosalind Carter and Jamine Carter; uncles, Ken Hoskins and Dewey Layne; aunts, Melissa Caldwell and husband, Johnny, Ethel Collins and husband, Jimmy, and Mary Smith and husband, Terry; and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Balkan Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Layne Family.
