Douglas Keith Cottrell, Sr., age 84, passed away peacefully on the farm that he loved, on January 31, 2011 in Arthur, Tennessee. Member of Gap Creek Baptist Church, veteran of WW II, retired from Langley & Morgan Corporation of Harlan, Kentucky, and lifetime supporter of University of Tennesse Athletics.

Preceded in death by wife, Thelma Jean Robbins Cottrell; sons, Douglas Keith Cottrell, Jr. and Alan Randolph Cottrell; parents, James Blaine and Minnie Mae Croushorn Cottrell; brothers, Clarisse, Claude, William and Rod;; sisters, Elizabeth and Kata; son-in-law, Jim White.

Survivors, son, Terry Cottrell, Dallas, TX; daughters, Gloria Cottrell, Carol Robin White, Teresa Hope (Joe) Palazzolo, all of Knoxville, TN.; daughter-in-law, Cathy Davis Cottrell, Harrogate, TN.; granddaughter, Tiffani Nicole (Josh) Garnett, Middlesboro, KY; Dog, Rudy; Cat, Otis; A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends; caregivers, Betty Long, Donna McPhearson, Doris Partin; special caregiver of 7 years, Grace Brock, Claiborne County Hospital, especially the ER, UT Hospital, Dr. John H. Cooper, Dr. Myrwood Besozzi, Amedisys Health Care & Hospice.

Funeral services will be 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Valley Chapel with Rev. Chad Burdette and Bro. M.C. McCarter officiating. Music by Jane Cox and Katie Chumley. Graveside service 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Cottrell Cemetery with full military honors provided by Tri-County Honor Guard. Pallbearers, Clyde Daniels, R.J. Francisco, John Brock, Eddie Chumley, Shelby Ely, and John Tuttle. Honorary pallbearers, Jim Powell, Jack Francisco and Roger Rowland.
