Kathleen Ann Ewing Smith was born to John Baxter Ewing and Azalee Lora Hill Ewing on May 25, 1944, in Lejunior, Kentucky. Ann was part of a large family growing up in the coal fields of Eastern Kentucky. As a teenager, she traveled with family to Chicago, Illinois where she graduated high school and met the love of her life, Robert Smith. Kathleen and Robert were wed on February 8, 1965. Kathleen and Robert resided in Fort Wayne, Indiana where she was employed at Magnavox and General Electric. In 1978, a strong commitment to family drew Kathleen and Robert along with their two young daughters back to Hulen, Kentucky. After resettling, she and Robert opened a successful business, Bluegrass Satellite and Video, from which she retired in the early 2000's. Kathleen had a heart of gold and a loving kindness for others. She had an immense love for Jesus Christ, gardening and tending to her flowers as this brought her great happiness. She wholeheartedly loved her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and siblings. While surrounded by her husband and daughters, Kathleen, age 77, passed to her eternal home, Heaven, to be with her Lord Jesus Christ following a long valiant battle with cancer on May 2, 2022. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Henegar, Billy Ewing, Don Ewing, Jeff Ewing, and John Ewing. Kathleen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Roscoe Smith, daughter Elisha Howard and husband Jeff, daughter Kristina Roark and husband Brent. Four grandsons, Michael Howard, Christian Howard, Braydan Roark, and Brett Roark. Three great granddaughters, Sophia, Noel, and Brooklyn Howard. Sister Ruth Middleton and husband JD, sister Irene Stout and husband Wayne, brother Joe Ewing and wife Angel, and brother Ben Ewing.
