June Allen Akers

June 22, 1931 — May 11, 2025

Our precious mother and grandmother, June Allen Crabtree Akers, age 93 of Pineville, Kentucky entered into the arms of Jesus on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025. She was born on June 22, 1931, in Stearns, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Bertha Allen Crabtree.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in this journey by her husband, Curtis Akers, Sr.; infant brother, Lloyd Crabtree, Jr.; and brothers, Dorman Ray Crabtree and Herald Dean Crabtree.

More valuable to than her precious jewels, she leaves behind her family, daughter, Pamela and Dennis Hancock; sons, Curtis and Linda Akers, Phillip and Sharon Akers, and Thomas and Judy Akers; grandchildren, Lea and Tim Fultz, Scarlett and Jesse Shackleford, Travis Hancock, Chad Hancock, Michael and Lisa Akers, Alicia Hoskins, Dustin Akers, Clay Akers, Demetria and Josh Delancey, Ladara and John Hicks, and Jamison and Scarlett Sexton; great-grandchildren, Michael Fultz, Jared Fultz, Jeana and Andrew Harris, Emma Shackleford, Jacob Shackleford, Nathaniel Hancock, Kaylynne Hancock, Colt Hancock, Devon and Kelsey Akers, Noah Akers, Cody and Caitlin Hoskins, Connor and Hope Hoskins, Callie Ann Hoskins, Abigale Delancey, Elayna Delancey, Clark Delancey, Lex Hicks, Foster Hicks, and Katie Sexton; great-great-grandchildren, Brayden Fultz, Ashton Fultz, Cruze Fultz, Levi Fultz, Lainey Hoskins, Levi Hoskins, Eleanor Akers, and Anna June Harris; sister, Phyllis Stevens; brother, Keith Crabtree; and a host of other family members, as well as friends.

June was baptized into the Baptist Faith on March 3, 1942, and was a faithful member of Pineville First Baptist Church for 83 years. She was very active with the church in many capacities, choir and dinners, but mainly the Christmas Shoebox Ministry. She was an excellent seamstress making lots of clothes for members of our family. She made majorette uniforms for the entire majorette squad of Bell Count High School for one Mountain Laurel Festival Parade. Her knitting and crocheting skills are evident in the displayed afghans. One talent the family truly loved was her cooking skills. She loved preparing meals for everyone.

June was a very witty woman and entertained us with “Junisms”. One favorite was, “It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts!”

Funeral services will be at 5:00 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Howard presiding. Music will be provided by Mickey Wilder. Burial will follow at Pineville Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons, and honorary pallbearers will be her great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3:00 PM until the funeral hour at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home.
