Julia Jump, 87 of Hulen passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at her home. She was born on November 11, 1921 in Blackmont a daughter of the late Solomon C. and Katie Ella Lee Simpson. Julia was a lifelong civil servant, during World War II; she supported the home front by assembling aircraft components at the Globe-Wernicke Company in Norwood, OH and worked for the Clinton Engineer Works at the Y-12 plant in Oak Ridge, TN. Following the war, she returned home and served as Postmaster at Hulen, KY, retiring after thirty years. Julia was a member of the First Blackmont Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the National Association of Postmasters of the United States. In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Frank Harley Jump; son, Harley Asher Jump; son-in-law, Jimmie Sturdivant; brothers, Robert Simpson and Bill Simpson; sisters, America Howard and Geneva Simpson. Survivors include her daughter, June Jump Sturdivant of Hulen; granddaughter, Aletha Farley and Greg; grandson; Harley Dewane Sturdivant; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Marcum, Wesley Farley, Tyler Sturdivant and Taylor Sturdivant; brothers, Solomon C. Simpson, Jr. and Thomas Jefferson Simpson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
