Jonathan “Jay” Slusher, 55, of Pineville, KY, passed away on March 6, 2023, surrounded by his family. Jay was born in August of 1967, in Louisville, Kentucky to Alex and Nancy Slusher, and was the 6th of their 7 children. He was a great athlete, student, and worked hard for all that he accomplished. He married and raised 3 children of his own. His family was his greatest love and joy.
Jay was an avid fisherman, although more time was spent preparing and talking about fishing than wetting the line. Jay had many talents that he passed on to his children. He was a great athlete in his youth, loved teaching, and watching his sons compete, and passed his artistic talents to his daughter. He was a foodie, although there was not a restaurant on the planet that could meet his expectations (once he finally decided what he wanted to eat). His sense of humor and temperament was always present as he always had a comment or joke to make you laugh or smile. His gentleness and kindness made an impact on those who knew him.
Jay is survived by his wife of 36 years, Stacie Barnett Slusher; two sons, Brent and Rachel Slusher and Brad Slusher; daughter, Loren Slusher; grandchildren, Ramsey Slusher, Colson Slusher, and Ronan Slusher; siblings, Alan Slusher, Debra and Eddie Saylor, Michael Slusher, Darrell Slusher, Sandra and John Pursifull, and Alex and Teri Slusher; father-in-law, Shirl and Alice Barnett; mother-in-law, Brenda Newell; sister-in-law, Amy and Vince Sines; and brother-in-law, Jason Barnett; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Nancy Miracle Slusher.
Aside from being the greatest example of a husband and father, Jay was a great friend to many, and well-liked and respected by all who were fortunate to know him. He will be truly missed.
