Johnny Richard Sproles

Johnny Richard Sproles, 79 of Pineville, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin. He was born in Turkey Creek on September 21, 1944, a son of Richard B. and Jessie Lee Hendrickson Sproles. Johnny had been an Electrician for Kentucky Utilities and the State Highway Department.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Slusher and her husband, Paul.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen Lee Sproles; son, Johnny Richard Sproles, II; daughter, Shannon Leigh Thacker; grandchildren, Jessica, Anisah, Aaron, Madison, and Johnathan; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Michael Sproles and wife, Wilma; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Paul and Audrey Bailey, Mike and Wilma Sproles, Madison and Nate Brooks, and the Corbin Baptist Health Nursing and Hospital Staff for all of their help, compassion, support, and their above and beyond care.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Smith presiding. Burial will follow at the Sproles Family Community Cemetery in Turkey Creek. Pallbearers will be Johnny Sproles, II, Michael Sproles, Roger Thacker, Aaron Thacker, Johnathan Sproles, and Nate Brooks.
