John Arthur Mays "OT", “Otie”, “Otis” received his wings and went home with the Lord Wednesday February 14th, 2024. John was born and raised in Pineville, Kentucky where he lived most of his life, later moving to Middlesboro, Kentucky; but Pineville, "The Gem City" was always home.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John "Jack" and Jessie Mays; also preceded in death by his sister, Patricia A. Cloud "Abby", and brothers, James M. Mays “Milt" and Marcellus Mays "Mark".
He is survived by his wife, Donna Mays; daughter, Amber Marie Mays and Jasmine Partin; son, Johnathan Mays; granddaughter, Madeline Rose “Sissy”, all of Middlesboro, Kentucky; also survived by brothers, Billy Ray Fulton of Pineville, Robert Cloud of Stoughton, Wisconsin, and Bernard "Fatman" Mays of Oshkosh , Wisconsin; sister, Vernora "Mouse" (Samuel) McCants of Akron, Ohio; parents-in-law, Donnie and Bonnie Napier; special friends, Evelyn Collins and Ashley Carr; and his Yorkie companion, “Little Bear”. John leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
John had a passion for the Pineville Mountain Lions and the Kentucky Wildcats sports teams, he also enjoyed the outdoor work of his yard and his garden. He took great pride in putting up his decor for the holidays, he also enjoyed being his own "pool man", where he kept the water in his pool crystal clear summer after summer. John loved the times at his Yellow Bingo Hall with family and friends.
Although John's departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, his spirit flourishes forever in those that he loved the most.
