John Dewey 'J.D.' Harp, Sr., age 68, of Speedwell, was born April 29th, 1941 to the late Elmer and Lily Harp. He went home to be with the Lord on November 13, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Cleda Harp; son, Estel Harp; daughter, Samantha Harp and sister, Grace Mullins.
Survived by his daughters, Kathy Meredith, Tammy (Larry) Drummonds, Michelle Harp; sons, Gary Wayne (Karen) Harp, John (Connie) Harp, James (Susie) Harp, Leroy (Chelsea) Harp, Jimmy (Melissa) Harp; grandchildren, Phillip (Danielle) Meredith, Katrina Drummonds, James Drummonds, Papaws Little Buddy, Emily Harp, Hannah Drummonds, Angel Drummonds, Dustin Miracle, Jesse Miracle, Misty (Jacob) Crawford, Brittney Wells, Michael Smith, John Patterson and Josh Overton; great grandchildren, Phillip Meredith, Jr., Papaw's Little man, Peyton Miracle, Jesse Miracle, Blake Baker, Landon Crawford, Trinity Crawford and Hunter Robertson; brothers, Elmer (Hope) Harp, Wilburn (Billie Mae) Harp, David (Darlene) Harp. A host of nieces, nephews, brothers & sisters-in-law, friends, and his church family.
Funeral service 2 pm Monday at The Powell Valley Church of God with Rev. Billy Paul & Rev. Frank Norvell officiating. Music by family & friends. The family will receive friends from 6-9 PM Sunday at The Church. Burial in The Hensley Chapel Cemetery.
He will be lovingly carried by his sons, Gary Wayne Harp, John Harp, Jr., James Harp, Leroy Harp, Jimmy Harp and Phillip Meredith.
