John Earl Guy 71, of Speedwell, Tennessee, formerly of Monroe, died at 4:20 a.m. Thursday at the home of his daughter, Teresa Giarmo.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe. The Rev. Alfred Whittker of Victory Temple and the Rev. Harold Raines of Monroe Full Gospel will officiate. Mr. Guy will then be taken to The Reece Funeral Home, Harogate, Tennessee, for visitation on Monday from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Speedwell, TN.

Born April 18, 1936 in Speedwell, TN. He was the son of Emmit and Ethel (Kimberlin) Guy. He married Lou Vonia Allen on June 8, 1957 in Speedwell, TN. Mr Guy was employed by Ford Motor Co. Woodhaven, MI. and retired in 1990. He was a member of the UAW and enjoyed fishing, traveling, building, auto mechanics and having fun.

Surviving are his wife, two sons Glenn (Connie) Guy of Speedwell and Tommy Haworth of Monroe, three daughters Teresa (Nick) Giarmo of Monroe, Rhonda (John) Rankin of Luna Pier and Marla (Bryan) Smith of Thorntown, IN. a brother Arnold (Alice) Guy of Speedwell, four sisters Dortha (Bernie) Owens of LaSalle, Cecil (Dewey) Lewis of Monroe, Patsy (Buddy Ray) Huckaby and Jean (Roy) Leach both of LaFollette, TN. Eight grandchildren Brad Johnson, Jason Cantrell, Jaden Guy, Kala Giarmo, Chris Smith, Jacob Smith, Shay Sterling and Niki Mullins and eleven great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Arville and Willard Guy and a sister Ruthia Brown.

Memorials may be made to the Monroe Full Gospel Building Fund.
