John Edgar Baker, 74, of Ferndale, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Pineville Community Hospital. He was born in Pineville on September 23, 1938 a son of the late Roscoe and Lucy Webb Baker. He attended Ferndale Pentecostal Church and had worked for the highway department for many years. John had served in the U.S. Air Force. He had also been a former assistant fire chief, had worked at family services at Bell Whitley and had worked at the Pineville Machine Shop. He was an avid Nascar, KY Wildcat and Yankees fan. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Vera Jean Dennison Baker; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Bridgett of Middlesboro; Ted and Tina of Middlesboro; Eddie of Pineville and John and Misty of Stoney Fork; grandchildren whom he adored, Brittany Goodin and husband, Scott of Middlesboro and John Ross Baker of Stoney Fork; brothers and sisters, Bill of Middlesboro; Modena Partin and husband, Parrott of Pineville; Gerri Miller of Stoney Fork; Jimmy Wayne and wife. Patty of Middlesboro and Carolyn Taylor of Pineville; special friends. Bill Miracle, Murphy Buell and Virgil Hendrickson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
