John Henry Ayers

John Henry Ayers age 89 of New Tazewell passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 at his home with his loving family by his side.  He was born July 25, 1929 in Harlan, Kentucky to the late Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Catherine (Wilson) Ayers.  He is also preceded in death by his sister Sarah Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mossie Ayers, children; Sherry Carroll and husband Steven, Marry Brotherton and husband Bill, Leona Dooley and husband Glenn, Margaret Mitchell and his adopted son Pete Middleton, grandchildren; Cathy Smith, Shannon Brotherton, Patsy Lamb, Robin Roy and Josh Dooley, great grandchildren; Jason Carroll, Jonathon Carroll, Robert Smith Jr., Adam Smith, Brandy Smith, Shaina Lamb, Zackery Lamb, Caleb Lamb, Olivia Dooley and Madison Dooley, great-great grandchildren; Brantley Andrew Carroll, Remmington Alexander Teffletter and Makenley B. Carroll, sister; Sue Hall.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 5, at 12:00PM at the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel with the Rev. Paul Dean officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elydale Cemetery.  Pallbearers; Jason Carroll, Jonathon Carroll, Robert Smith Jr., Adam Smith, Zach Lamb, Caleb Lamb, Shannon Brotherton and Josh Dooley.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 5 from 10:00am until the funeral hour at 12:00PM at the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel.
