Jesse James Phipps, 78 of Pineville, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the Pineville Community Health Center. He was born in Pineville on May 12, 1943, a son of the late Herbert and Marie Hendrickson Phipps. Jesse was a member Harmony Missionary Baptist Church and had been a carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Daniel Phipps; son-in-law, Wayne Carmack; brothers, Ray Phipps and George Albert Phipps; sisters, Ethel Brock and Vandetta Charles; and half-sister, Barbara Laws. Jesse is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cuba Rose Brock Phipps; sons, Melvin Phipps and wife, Shirley and Bobby Phipps and wife, Betty; daughters, Lisa Carmack and Tina Mosley and husband, David; grandchildren, Emilee Mosley and Harve Gregory; brothers, Nelson Phipps and Herbert Phipps, Jr.; sisters, Evelyn Howard and Geneva Brock; half-brothers, Jerry Phipps and wife, Laura and Frank Phipps and wife, Melissa; half-sister, Amanda Helton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2022 at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Heck and Rev. Mark Hunter presiding. Burial will follow at the Smith Hill Cemetery in Pineville with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Phipps Family.
