Jerry Leon Rains, 82, of Speedwell, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025 at Jefferson Park at Dandridge, Tennessee. He was born February 19, 1943 in Middlesboro, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Curtis Greene Rains and Beulah Burns McCartt. Jerry served his country in the United States Army, was an Over the Road Truck Driver and loved Farming.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bessie Miracle Rains; grandson, David Spencer Mayes; brother, Bill McCartt; and sister, Sandra White.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Bernice Carr Rains; children, Michelle Carey And husband, Dennis, Billie Williams, and Candie Coffey and special son-in-law, Mike; step-children, Monica Hofer, Kathy Russell and husband, Jimmy, and Debbie Marlow and husband, Daniel; grandchildren, Elijah Mayes, Titus Mayes, Lucas Carey, Cadence Rains, Aliyah Williams, Caleb Gibson, Canden Jerry Rains, Eli Coffey, Austin Sizemore, and Melita Holt; siblings, Bessie Jean Wascom and husband, Bill, Kenny McCartt and wife, Kathy, and Judy Vanbever and husband, M.O.; son-in-law, James Williams; special friends, Gary Evans, Scotty Holloway, and Danny Adkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family suggests contributions toward the funeral expenses in lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel in Harrogate Mr. Phillip Chumley officiating. Music will be by Aaron Hunter and Susan Parker. Burial will follow in the Green Loy Cemetery in Speedwell with family serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until funeral hour at 3:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel in Harrogate, which is honored to be serving the Rains family.
