Jerry Browning

Jerry Browning, 72, of Laurel Hill, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital London. He was born in East Pineville on June 5, 1943, a son of the late W.B. and Grace Giles Browning. Jerry was a long time member of the East Pineville Baptist Church, where he had been a Deacon for over 32 years and had been a Sunday School Teacher. He had been a member of the Bell County Gideon Camp. He had worked in construction and was co-owner of WB Browning Construction Company. A graduate of the 1961 class at Bell County High School, Jerry attended the University of Kentucky and Clemson University in South Caroline, then graduated from Cumberland College in Williamsburg, KY with a degree in Drafting and Architecture. He was a founding member and President of the Bell County Historical Society. One of Jerry's favorite sayings was 'have a grand and glorious day' and he and Mary Ellen always called each other 'sugar.' In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, their husbands and brothers, Francis 'Sister' and Bud Woods and Lois and Clarence Hendrickson; Leon Browning, Billy Browning and Larry Browning. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, 11 months, Mary Ellen Sharp Browning; daughter and her husband, Lisa nd Jim Collett; son and his wife, Kevin and Shiela Browning; precious granddaughter, Sophia Browning; brother, Van Browning; sisters-in-law, Lorena Browning and Rickey Browning; four nieces, seven nephews, very special friends, Leon Miracle, Tom Shattuck and Rev. Philip Jackson and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM at East Pineville Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Hunter and Rev. Robert Miracle. Music will be by John Michelle Sharpe, Billy Ray, Regina Miracle and Wanda Miracle and the Church Choir. Burial will be in the Browning Cemetery, Pineville. Pallbearers will be Charlie Woods, Jeff Woods, Dennis Woods, Kevin Browning, John Browning, Doug Browning, Jim Collett and Virgil Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Patterson, Fred Woods, Shelby Money, Ellis Hoskins, Chuck Green, Tim Cornelius, Tom Shattuck, Ron mason and Dr. Talmadge Hays. Memorial donations are suggested to the East Pineville Baptist Church at EPMBC c/o Gaye Patterson, P.O. Box 1075, Pineville, KY. 40977. The family will receive friends from 12 until the funeral hour on Sunday at the East Pineville Baptist Church, East Pineville.
