Janice Carol Hurst

Janice Carol (Lane) Hurst, age 70, of Speedwell, TN was born October 30, 1952 and passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022 at her home with her loving husband by her side. She was a member of Clairfield Freewill Baptist Church and a great supporter of her husband’s ministry.

She was preceded in death by her paretns, Albert Newton Lane and Elsie Cleo (McNew) Lane, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Luther Fuson Hurst and Maggie Bell Hensley Hurst, brother and sister-in-law, James Ray Lane and Janet Lane, brother, Albert Lee Lane, brothers-in-law, Charles Evans and Gerald Day.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Rev. Roger Hurst, Sr. of Speedwell, TN, children, Tina (Mark) Smith of Strawberry Plains, TN, Roger Hurst, Jr. and special friend Chasity Sizemore of Speedwell, TN, grandchildren, Hailey (David) McGhee, Mattie (Devin) McCarter, Britney Hurst, Joshua Smith, Caleb Hurst, Brianna Hurst, Jasmine Hurst and Matthew Hurst. Great grandchildren, Reagan McGhee, Colt McCarter, brothers and sisters, Jesse (Donnie Lane of Middlesboro, KY, Ruby (Bob) Daniels of Paintsville, KY, Anne (Kenneth) Farmer of Tazewell, VA, Lillie Evans of Ypsilanti, MI, Clyde (Brenda) Lane of LaFollette, TN, Mary (Clifton) Lundstrum of Gainesville, GA, Charles Lane of Speedwell, TN, Jerry Lane and special friend Kathy Lambert of Tazewell, TN, Tammy (Ernie) Buttery of Ewing, VA, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rev. James (Jewel) Hurst of Speedwell, TN, Larry (Mary) Hurst of Weaverville, NC, Evelyn Miracle of Speedwell, TN, Irene Coleman of LaFollette, TN, Rosa Leigh Hatfield of Tazewell, TN, Clara (Robert) Taylor of Tazewell, TN. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends. The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses of Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice for their wonderful care.

The family will receive friends Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 5PM until 7PM with funeral services to follow at 7PM in the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel with Rev. Jim Hurst and Rev. Travis Miller officiating. Music will be provided by Karen Ringley, Travis & Lisa Miller and the Hurst grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday, December 5, 2022 at 1PM in the Lane Cemetery, Speedwell, TN with Rev. Donnie Marlow officiating.

Pallbearers: Caleb Hurst, Joshua Hurst, Adam Lane, Zach Buttery, Tommy Violet and Randy Hurst.
