James Slusher, 59, of Columbia, KY passed away on August 5, 2019 at the Vanderbilt Medical Center, Nashville, TN. He was born in Beverly, KY on December 12, 1959 a son of the late Wilson and Lula Myrtle Skaggs Slusher. He attended Purdy Sano Separate Baptist Church and had been a coal miner and farmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by father and mother-in-law, Russell and Louise Reed; brothers-in-law, Steve Asher and Charles Irvan. Survivors include his wife, Deanna Reed Slusher, children, Cody Russell (Molly) Slusher and James Brandon (Pearl) Slusher; grandchildren, James Walker Slusher, Mason Charles Russell Slusher and Sawyer Alexandria Slusher; brother, Robert Wilson Slusher; sisters, Lucy Katherine Irvan, Mary Lou (Bob) Proffitt, Linda Ann Asher, Hester (David) Saylor, Patsy (Russell) Ayers and Alice (Bob) Morton and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Services will be at 11:00 AM Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Wayne Goodin and Rev. Roy Napier. Music will be by Paul Wayne Goodin and family, Hobert and Della Asher. Burial will be in the Asher Cemetery at Little Creek. Pallbearers will be Jason Ayers, Joseph Ayers, Bobby Slusher, Thomas Asher, Brandon Gilbert, Cody Bailey, Kyle Peters and Michael Barrett. Honorary pallbearers are James Payne, Jim Bob Asher, Garrett Broughton and Daniel Sturgill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 10168 Linn Station Road, Ste 101, Louisville, KY 40223. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Slusher Family.
