James Simpson Jr.

James Simpson, Jr., 76 of Pineville, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at the Pineville Community Health Center in Pineville. He was born in Newtown on December 3, 1944, a son of the late James Sr. and Mossie Pearl Asher Simpson. James served in the United States Army during Vietnam, was a Master Mason and a member of Bell Lodge 691. He had been an Emergency Medical Technician. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughters, Brooklyn Sizemore and Harper Sizemore and several brothers and sisters. James is survived by his children, Jerrica Simpson and her husband, Taylor Sizemore, Jamie Reese and her husband, Steve, Teresa Simpson, Steven Simpson and his wife, Brooke, Lisa Helton, and her husband, Steven and Dakota Bennett; grandchildren, Dustin Simpson, Josiah Simpson, Jadon Simpson, Veronica Smith, Carla Brock, Jacob Brock, Tyler Reese, Devin Reese, Ethan Reese, Brentley Sizemore, Hailey Helton, and Landon Helton; great-grandchildren, Liam Smith, Owen Smith, and Levi Laws; siblings, Gaynell Johnson, Viola Price, Hazel Hoskins, Joseph Simpson, and Johnnie Simpson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Hoskins, Rev. Richard Asher, Rev. Demus Couch and Rev. Tom Elliott presiding. Music will be provided by David and Lola Brock and Nathan and Tawanna Frye. Burial will follow at the Simpson Family Cemetery in Jenson. Pallbearers will be Jacob Brock, Dustin Simpson, Devin Reese, Matt Holmes, Steven Reese, Taylor Sizemore, Hobie Hoskins, and Danny Elliott. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Shawn Fugate and Staff, Darrell Brock, and Bobby Widener. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Simpson family.
