James David Long

James David “Jim” Long, 59, of Speedwell, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Fort Sanders Regional Hospital in Knoxville. He was born on February 16, 1966 in Springfield, Ohio, and was the son of Burton and Barbara Smith Long. Jim was a member of Underwood Grove Missionary Baptist Church and had been an over the road truck driver for Penn Tank Lines.

He was preceded in death by his father, Burton Long.

Survivors include the love of his life, Lisa Slaven; sons, Josh Long and Justin Long; daughters, Candy Bean and Ashley Goins; mother, Barbara Long; grandchildren, Brittany Bean, Kolby Bean, Jordan Bean, Jace Goins, Jaxton Goins, Linkyn Goins and Juda Goins; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel with Rev. Randy Hurst and Rev. Marvin Simmons officiating. Music will be by the Underwood Grove Choir. Burial will follow at the Hooper Cemetery in Speedwell with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until funeral hour at the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel  in Harrogate, which is honored to be serving the Long family.
