James “Jimmy” Scott Neal, 90, of Pineville, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Middlesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation in Middlesboro. James was born on February 27, 1935, to the late William and Susie Brock Neal. James was a believer in the Holiness Faith. In his younger years, James had worked in tree trimming. James loved everyone, and attended many Holiness Churches faithfully, just to name a few, Straight Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church, East End Holiness Church, Calvary Holiness Church, Jenson Pentecostal Holiness Church, and Harvest Time House of Prayer. He had many specials friends, especially Donna Asher, and many special friends around Pineville, Taylor Pharmacy, Longs Pic Pac, and the Post Office. James loved to give. He loved giving candy, pens, and CD’s. James loved going to church and good singing. He enjoyed taking care of his bees, gardening, and playing the guitar. James was also a proud Kentucky Colonel.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Bessie Partin Neal; an infant son, James Neal; brothers and sister, Grant Saylor, Florence Saylor, George Neal, William Neal Jr., Fred Neal, and Robert Ed Neal.
James is survived by his daughters, Patty Collins, Debbie and Bo Mills, and Lisa and Ernie Asher; grandchildren, Jason and Jody Neal, Jonathan and Tiffany Mills, Kevin Collins, Shane and Haley Collins, Michelle Mills, Ernie Joe and Kathy Asher, and Leann and Brandon Jackson; great grandchildren, Priscilla, Serenity, and Juliana Neal, Abigail Mills, Jaycee Collins, Braylee Collins, Kolton Collins, Emery Collins, Brandi, Luke, Caylee, Braylee and Rachel Jackson, and Jaske Asher; sister, Nanny Baker; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you, to the staff of Middlesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral Services for James Neal will be conducted at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Jonathan Mills, Rev. Ernie Asher, Rev. Jimmy Johnson, Rev. David Asher, Rev. John Neal, and Rev. Richard Asher officiating. Following the funeral service, James will be laid to rest beside his wife at the Fuson Chapel Cemetery at Little Clear Creek, with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and again from 9:00 AM on Tuesday, until the funeral hour of 2:00 PM.
