James J. "Jim" Krueger

Harrogate, Tennessee

James J. “Jim” Krueger, age 81, of Harrogate, TN passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 9, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born October 30, 1941, in Julesburg, Colorado but moved to a smaller town of Lewellen, Nebraska for a few years and then on to Sterling, Colorado where he attended college for a semester. Jim worked for 50 years in the cash register business in Knoxville, TN, he attended many technical schools and was also a Veteran of the US Navy where he traveled to many counties and cities in the USA and loved each minute of it. Jim loved playing tennis, bicycling and was an avid reader all his life. He loved Tennessee because of all the many trees and colors. He also loved working with the people of East Tennessee, Eastern Kentucky and Virginia. Jim loved and respected all of his customers in the grocery stores and baking equipment whom he did business with during his 50-year career.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Alice Denny and Joseph Krueger and 3 siblings.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years; Mary Sue “Susie” Krueger, nephews; Dan and Doug Roberts, nieces; Cheri Garza and husband M.J. of Colorado, Julie Meyer and husband Bob also of Colorado. He is also survived by a very special young man and neighbor who Jim and Susie loved like a family member, Jacob Park.

Full military honors will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, March 16, 2023 by the Tri County Veterans Honor Guard with a memorial service to follow in the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel with Pastor Gordon Smith officiating. Obituary reading will be by Ty Harber, Jr. and music will be provided by Katie Harber Chumley.
