James "Jim" Edward Holcomb, Jr.

Jun 10, 1948 — Jul 26, 2026

James “Jim” Edward Holcomb, Jr., age 78, of Speedwell, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 26, 2026, following a brief illness.

Born the tenth of thirteen children, on the family farm, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, on June 10, 1948, to the late James “Jim” and Martha Holcomb, Sr.; Jim devoted his life to being a devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. Down to earth, simple and hardworking; Jim loved his career as a logger and was passionate about his way of living in and off the woods. He was a long-time employee of Louisiana Pacific Purchasing Corporation up until his retirement. Following retirement, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, and friends. He also enjoyed planting and tending to a large vegetable garden each year. However, Jim enjoyed most spending time with his Lord and Savior, Jesus, each evening, while studying his bible; he was a member of the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, of Speedwell, Tennessee. Jim will surely be missed by all of those who loved and cherished him.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Keith Holcomb; two brothers and seven sisters.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of thirty-five years, Linda Holcomb; one son, Brad (Alicia) Burkhart; one beloved granddaughter, Addison Burkhart; three sisters, Nina (Bob) Clark, Shelby (Jack) Little and Loretta Hicks; special nephew, Michael (Stacy) Munsey and their children, Lincoln, Henry, Grant and Sutton; special niece, Carlee (Wes) Burton and their boys; and beloved dogs, Daisy and Jack.

Funeral services will be held at Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel, in Harrogate, Tennessee, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 2PM, with Pastor Jimmy Branscomb and Associate Pastor, Ronald Lambert officiating.

Visitation will be held from 12PM until time of services.
