James “Jamie” Brooks, Jr., age 60, of Monkton, Maryland, formerly of Ewing, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, following a brief illness.
Born in Middlesboro, Kentucky on January, 21, 1966, Jamie was the only child of the late James Brooks, Sr. and Delois Ayers- Brooks. Jamie devoted his life to being a loving son, husband and father. Jamie trusted Christ as his Savior at the age of 12 at Mountain View Church and put God first in his life, reading and studying scripture daily. He was a twenty-three-year member of The Church of Open Door, in Westminster, Maryland, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher for over two decades. Jamie was employed as Director of Research & Development with ThermoFisher Scientific for over thirty years, where he rarely ever missed a day of work. He was a passionate Kentucky Wildcats basketball fan. In his spare time, Jamie enjoyed playing basketball with his sons, going on walks and traveling with his wife, or simply spending time withhis family at home. Jamie was a man of patience, poise, consistency, and contentment. He encouraged his sons to be better men and give their full effort in everything they do. He will forever be missed dearly by his loving family and friends, but they have joy in knowing they will see him again someday.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Jim and Laura Ayers and paternal grandparents, Alwayne and Ethel Brooks.
