Irene Kaye Brooks Barnette, 71 of Middlesboro, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the Middlesboro ARH. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on January 2, 1951, a daughter of the late Alonzo and Maggie Kennedy Brooks. Irene had been a counselor.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ray Barnette; son, Terry Glenn Barnette; grandson, Camden Barnette; siblings, Rachel Simpson, Clara Melton, Marvin Brooks, and Glenn Brooks; nephews, James Lundy and Dillion Wren; and son-in-law, Michael Tigue.
Irene is survived by her daughters, Margaret Barnette and wife, Jessica Wilson, and Barbara Hughett; honorary children, Cathy McClean, Elvis Brooks, and Jennifer Brooks; grandchildren, Tina Elliott, Jannah Hughett, Hannah Barnette, Terry Tigue, Caitlin Tigue, and Ashley Barnette; great-grandchildren, Kiearah Barnette, Emma Brown, Keagan Barnette, Karson Barnette, Khloe Davis, Paislee Asher, and Kingsley Davis; great-great-grandchildren, Gracie Barnette and Kaden Barnette; sister, Peggy Brooks Brandstutter; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Jewish Cemetery in Middlesboro with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
