Hurley Whitehead

Hurley Whitehead, 81, of Speedwell, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at his home. He was born in Tacky Town, KY on April 6, 1936 a son of the late Taylor and Catherine Caldwell Whitehead. He had worked at W.M. Ritter Lumber Company, Stewart Lumber Company and he retired from Cypress Coal Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Bonnie Lou Whitehead, brothers Elmer Whitehead and John Whitehead; brother-in-law, William Taylor; sister-in-law, Bonnie Jean Whitehead. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Elsie Caldwell Whitehead; children, Polly Ann (Roscoe) King (Roscoe), Helen (Nelson) Ward, Bobby Dale (Lynda Sue) Whitehead and Mary Kay (Dewayne) Bailey; grandchildren, Billy (Cheryl) Whitehead, Shannon (Patrick) King, Joshua Whitehead, Allen (Kayline) Burkhart, Kimberly (James) Whitehead; Cordale Bailey and Blake Bailey; great-grandchildren, Sean Whitehead, Alexis Jeffery, Sophia Whitehead, Colton Barton, Aleena Whitehead, Cassidy Burkhart; brothers and sisters, Fred Whitehead, Taylor Jr. Whitehead, Oma Jean Taylor, Ruben Whitehead, Mary Ann Whitehead, Manuel Whitehead; special friends, Robin King, Connie King and Kay Emery; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at the Laurel Branch Pentecostal Church with Rev. Ray Collett and Rev. Johnny Sparks. Music will be the Church family and friends. Burial will be in the Whitehead Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Billy Whitehead, Joshua Whitehead, Sean Whitehead, Cordale Bailey, Patrick Barton and James Perkins. The family will receive friends after 5:00 PM Thursday and all day Friday until the funeral hour on Saturday at the Laurel Branch Pentecostal Church.
