Hoyle "Pa" Dunn Rogers, age 86, passed away Monday, March 15, 2010 at his home in Speedwell, with his family by his side. He was born February 24, 1924 in Speedwell. He professed faith in Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of the Cawood United Methodist Church. He was a Master Mason of Valley Star Lodge #577. Past Master, Scottish Rite Mason, Yorkrite Mason and Shriner. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1986, always very proud of his ability to deliver the mail under any circumstance, a devoted farmer and an avid carpenter, always more than willing to help anyone in need. His handy work being displayed throughout Powell Valley. A man of much wisdom, incredible strength and a heart filled with love.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Gertrude "Sis" Rogers, parents: Elisabeth Marie Dunn Rogers and Robert "Bob" Rogers, step-mother, Inez Rogers; brothers: Boyd Rogers and Dave Rogers; sister: Lois Russell and grandchildren: Darlene Welch Eldridge and Michael Anthony Edwards.

He is survived by: Daughters: Mary L. Owens and husband, Marshall; Emily Ann Edwards and husband, Don, all of Speedwell; Twin Sons: Larry R. Rogers of Speedwell and Jerry D. Rogers and wife, Suzie of Eaton, Ohio; one Foster Son: Willis C. Walker and wife, Diane of Hotchkiss, Colorado. 8 Grandchildren: Elizabeth (Scott) Wilson; Christi (Rick) Stephenson; Rachel (Jon) Olson; Ondria Nicole Davis; Meredith (Aaron) Cruze; Rebecca (Jeff) Seigel; Lana (Chris) Tobin and Matthew Walker. 10 Great Grandchildren: Jessica Welch (Teddy Harrell); Lindsey Welch; Corey Eldridge; Wesley Ty Wilson; Stone and Shane Stephenson; Jacob and Ashley Hockenberry; Kaelee and Kelsey Tobin. 1 Great Great Grandson: Hayden Michael Lee Harrell. 1 brother: William "Bill" Rogers and wife, Helen of New Market.

Visitation to be held at Reece's Funeral Home of Harrogate, Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m., a Masonic Funeral to follow immediately thereafter at 8 p.m. Funeral Services to be held at Cawood United Methodist Church of Speedwell, on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Elder J.C. Monday and Rev. Ronnie Mutter officiating. Music by: Mary Muse, Elizabeth Edwards and Corey Eldridge. Pallbearers: Darrell Pate, Rob Asbury, Scott Wilson, Scott Edwards, Wilbur Owens and Scott Dunsmore.
